Redesdale Community Hub

Redesdale Precinct Project Update and Feedback request by 23rd December 2018

Following the last Listening Post held in June at Redesdale Hall, the project architect has been working within the controls of financial viability, practicality and compliancy to accommodate as many of the great suggestions made as possible. The local working group met recently to review the concept plans and consensus was that they looked great.  Please find the sketches below and look for larger printed format versions around the community in the hall, pub, cafe, petrol station and community message board to get a better idea of what’s planned.

The hall is going to look fabulous with the front facade having local stone and once the new kitchen is in we will have a much improved facility for the community to utilise with more storage and flexible layout at the rear.  The tenancy space has been tweaked to provide better privacy and the meeting room is a flexible space with the sink and windows more appropriately placed.  The travellers rest has been refined with power and water supplied to the sites and the waste dump point relocated to a more suitable location.  Potentially a shower could be added to the existing toilets offering more flexible use for travellers, reserve users including the CFA should we have a major event.

As outlined above there will be larger printed versions of these drawings around the community and available on the Redesdale.net web site for feedback.  See below for links to these.

The council has requested written feedback from the community for these concept plans, to ensure they have not missed anything major from the information collected at the Listening Post.  I have volunteered to collate these on behalf of the community and share them with council.

So, if you wish to share your constructive thoughts please email me, John Beurle c/- info@redesdale.net or physical mail C/- RaDA at PO Box 7, Redesdale VIC 3444 by Friday 23rd December.

Once this review process is completed, the next stage is to move into detailed design stage.  This stage of the project will need to receive new funding from council in the 2019/2020 budget.

Thank you to council for the ongoing support of Redesdale this year and a personal note from me to Andrew Plant, Deb Simpson and the committee for the positive work done this year.  On behalf of the Precinct Design group I would like to wish you, your family and friends a safe and happy festive season.  We look forward to the next stage of the Redesdale Precinct planning process and will be in touch soon.

Redesdale Community Hub Project Update – OCTOBER 2019

Final funding agreement and documentation discussions continue.

A submission to fund the second and subsequent detailed design phases has been made to council so fingers crossed for continued support from our council. These phases include the addition of meeting rooms and refurb of the hall facade, storage space, toilets and the addition of a traveller’s rest at the rear of the reserve.

Any suggestions for ‘fund raisers’ for this important community initiative are invited. Recent visits to the Reserve by a number of caravaners confirmed our expectations that groups such as theirs see great value in staying in Redesdale. We had over 20 people stay for 3 days and advised that they collect all receipts for goods and services spent in the towns they stay and forward them to the local council to show their support for local communities. A great initiative.
